My Canada, 110/150: Our national treasures

No trip to Canada’s capital is complete without visiting one of the dozen national museums based in Ottawa.

If Billy Munnelly decides to live Prince Edward County, you know there’s promise a’coming in the County’s wines.

It was soon decided that the Allward design would proceed at one location — Vimy — and the others would have simpler monuments installed.

Waterloo’s a place where school’s more important than cool: terms such as “nerd”, “geek” and “wonk” are compliments, not insults.

When I was young, my father went away for one week with a group of his townsmen to a hunting lodge east of Huntsville near Algonquin Park.

Some places have richer creative soil than others, encouraging a bumper local arts crop.

My particular favourite is The Raven and the First Men, a central installation at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC.

I know Michael Snow for his unerring ability to create sculpture that engages people who might not normally think that art is for them.
